GDA Young Drivers for Change

GDA’s Young Drivers for Change brings young disabled people together to build skills, confidence and peer support and enable young disabled people’s voices to influence change.

GDA’s Young Drivers for Change develop their talents and ideas through courses and activities such as:

  • Media skills
  • Creative Activism
  • Telling your Story
  • Our Human Rights
  • Goal setting
  • Leadership
  • Facilitation skills
  • Online campaigning
  • Peer research

Our Young DFC’s have contributed their time and expertise to speaking out about the barriers young disabled people face and what matters most to them, including through:

  • Scottish Youth Parliament Manifesto workshops
  • Scottish Government’s Disabled Children and Young People Advisory Group
  • ‘Cost of the School Day’ and child poverty planning in Glasgow
  • Workshops and Action planning for embedding rights in Scotland, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
