This summary report outlines GDA’s Future Visions project, designed to help address the relatively low uptake of Self-directed Support (SDS) among disabled people. The summary report includes key learning from the project.

This Manifesto for Independent Living formed the basis of GDA members’ campaign to Glasgow during the last local elections, leading to Glasgow’s current Independent Living Strategy.

The purpose of ‘My Choices’ was to start with the vision for Self Directed Support and see what could happen when disabled people were supported to have choice and control over their lives and to find out about the sorts of support that they might need.

Wider lessons may inspire service planners and policy makers in relation to Self Directed Support and models of support which disabled people value and benefit from.
